Short Biography

Mr. Andreas Christoforou was born in Famagusta on August 20, 1962, and has been blind from birth. He graduated from Acropolis High School in 1980 and subsequently studied Law at the Faculty of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He later pursued doctoral studies, focusing on the comparative study of commercial law in Cyprus, Greece, and England.

After completing his studies, he worked for approximately two years at a private law firm, gaining significant practical experience. He then served for another two years at the Ministry of Labour, where he acted as a Public Prosecutor specializing in occupational safety and health legislation, significantly contributing to the development of this legislation, which remains in force today.

His professional experience provided him with in-depth knowledge and scientific expertise in social insurance and labor law, enabling him to handle these matters with ease and proficiency.

From 1990 until 2023, he served in the Legal Service of the Republic, dealing with civil cases, serious criminal cases, administrative law, legislative review, and disciplinary prosecutions before the Public Service Commission and the Educational Service Commission.

Notably, Mr. Christoforou has handled the well-known case of the Astrasol Factory Civil Appeal No. 142/2019 and others (https://www.cylaw.org/cgi-bin/open.pl?file=apofaseis/aad/meros_1/2022/1-202209-142-19PolEf.htm&qstring=ASTRASOL).

Furthermore, he managed the first espionage case (see Augustinos Skoullou v. Subsequently, he handled the case concerning the honorable termination of an officer’s service (see Elias v. Today, he provides legal services both in advisory capacities and court representation across all jurisdictions and levels.

He is an active member of society, participating in parents’ associations, organizations for people with disabilities, and sports clubs. He has also served as the President of the Judicial Committee of the Cyprus Table Tennis Federation.
