A will is a legal document that sets out in writing how you wish your assets to be distributed after your death. However, to be valid, the document must comply with requirements set forth in the Wills and Succession Law (CHAP. 195).

A will includes instructions about how you want your property to be distributed. It also indicates which sources will be used to pay any outstanding taxes and estate debts and names the person you wish to carry out all obligations arising from the will.

Choosing an executor is a very important decision. Depending on the total value of the estate and the types of property, as well as managing the estate can require significant time and expertise. This is why it is recommended to appoint a lawyer as executor, a choice that guarantees immediacy and efficiency.

We provide all the necessary legal advice in relation to all the steps required to draft a valid will and the subsequent appointment of an executor as well as all matters related to the administration of the deceased’s estate in the absence of a will and the appointment of an administrator on the basis of provisions of the Wills and Succession Law.
